 Possible Game Mechanics

Mechanic 1:

The game I will be focusing on will be my 3D interpretation of the classic childhood game kerbs, or paths if you're wrong. The first mechanic I will need for this game will be an aiming mechanic, for this I want it to be tough to aim. So I want to have a slider that will bounce left and right and the player will have to click where they want it to stop, to indicate where the ball will land, I will then have a similar mechanic, like the one that was in the old Wii sports games, that will control the power, you will have to stop the slider at the perfect point so you don't overshoot or miss the kerb.

Footage of this power mechanic can be seen in Wii Sports golf here.

Mechanic 2:

The second mechanic will be a car that drives between the two players, which will allow the player with the ball to try and score a high point shot by throwing it over the car, the car will obscure the player's vision for a short time.

The mechanic will just be a simple car moving between the players at a random time in the game, it will pass by slowly giving whoever has the ball at the time a chance to score.

Mechanic 3:

Another mechanic will be swapping turns after a player has thrown the ball and scored, the ball will naturally bounce back to that player and they will take another turn, but if they miss, the ball will be passed over and the other player will take over and they can take their turn.

I think the ball should roll towards the player if they score and then maybe it just appears in their hand instead of having the character model bend down to pick it up.

If the turn is passed over after a player has missed it wouldn't be much fun to watch the character chase after the ball so I think it should appear in the hands of the player.

  1. Yooo Lee, I actually think this idea is a good one as it doesn't seem too complex and seems to be an achievable goal to make. The mechanic with adding a car going by is good because it adds a challenge for the player to get through. This seems like it would be a fun two player game possibly even split-screen party type of game. Best of luck with it man!
