Game Design Document

 GDD

In this week's reading, we learned about how to write a game design document or GDD for short, and why they're important for the creation of a game. The first article, written by Lennart Nacke, was a bit too long-winded and quite academic for me, it made the rest of the reading seem very daunting. Although it did give us this good tweet from the former studio director for BioWare, which is this image of the game design document for the "next Mass Effect" game.

While we wouldn't need a GDD this big it's interesting to see that we are using the same methods as big game studios.

The next article was a lot easier to read and will be more beneficial I think.
The video by Benderwaffles was also a lot easier to follow along and he even showed us his own game document for an RPG that he was making at the time, which was very useful.
